Byline: Jill Jedlowski Daily Herald Staff Writer Joan Jett might love rock 'n' roll, but she's not too fond of Butterball. The former front woman of The Blackhearts is leading a PETA campaign to inundate the Naperville-based Butterball Turkey Talk Line - 1-800-BUTTERBALL - with demands that the company treat the birds more humanely.

But the mission hasn't ruffled many feathers at the popular hotline's office, where a Butterball representative says only "a very small handful" of such calls have been received. Turkey Talk Line officials reported that of the nearly 20,000 calls received since Nov. 1, less than 15 pertained to PETA's call to action.
