That's because American Airlines has lowered the number of bonus miles for online reservations for a business- or first-class ticket.
Effective Dec. 15, AAdvantage members earn 500 bonus miles for first- or business-class tickets (previously 1,000 miles) and 250 bonus miles for coach tickets. With this move, American now offers the least amount of bonus miles for booking a coach-class ticket online.
