Byline: Kirstin Finneran Big, dangerous looking machines that seal cracks, sweep streets and plow snow are in and out of the village of Carpentersville's Public Works Street Division Garage on Lake Marian Road. That is, except for a few hours on the third Thursday night of every month. On those nights, most of the equipment is draped with caution tape, or even parked outside to make more room.

The space is needed when the Carpentersville Mobile Food Pantry - carrying 9,000 pounds of food for the needy - arrives. The mobile food pantry made its first delivery in the Public Works garage a year ago this month and is run by the Project Hope Ministry of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Barrington.
