U of I to share in BP biofuels grant.(Business)

Doherty Medill News Service BP PLC, which has a research laboratory in Naperville, said Thursday it has selected the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and the University of California, Berkeley, in partnership with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to receive a $500 million grant aimed at developing new sources of alternative energy.

The gift will create the Energy Biosciences Institute at the University of California, Berkeley, the world's first research lab dedicated to the long-term production of alternative fuels.
