Byline: Tim Sassone Daily Herald Sports Writer Once again, the debate is on. Should the NHL ban fighting? The topic is the talk of the league following the events this week that began when Todd Fedoruk of the Philadelphia Flyers was wheeled off the ice on a stretcher after being knocked cold by a punch from the New York Rangers' Colton Orr during a game.
Colin Campbell, the NHL's director of hockey operations, tossed gas on the burning issue Thursday when he said perhaps it's time for the league to ask the question about whether fighting is a necessary part of the game. Since then, two coaches - Edmonton's Craig MacTavish and Ottawa's Bryan Murray - have agreed with Campbell that maybe the sport could do without the fisticuffs that so many of its fans...
