Cancer organization to launch vaccine SCHAUMBURG - Cancer Treatment Centers of America, a network of cancer treatment hospitals and community oncology programs in Illinois, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Washington, announced plans to launch a new vaccine treatment for women with advanced stage ovarian cancer.
The vaccine will be developed by Avax Technologies Inc. in Philadelphia. Cancer Treatment Centers, whose headquarters are in Schaumburg, said the treatment uses the patient's own tumor tissues to create a patient-specific vaccine, which is then combined with chemotherapy delivered directly into the abdominal cavity.
