Byline: Harry Hitzeman Daily Herald Staff Writer Frustrated Geneva city leaders Friday vowed to appeal a state decision not to repave a pothole-laden 0.6-mile stretch of East State Street until 2009 or later. City leaders said they had been given assurances that the Illinois Department of Transportation would repave State Street from Route 25 (Bennett Street) to East Side Drive this summer.

But when the agency's six-year road plan came out this week, the $500,000 project was listed as something that was to happen sometime between 2009 and 2013. "It's ridiculous - the condition of the street," Geneva City Administrator Phil Page said. "It's already been deferred two years. It's certainly our intent to appeal to see if we can get this reinstated." Poor...
