Byline: Catherine Edman Daily Herald Staff Writer America's crown as the leader of the world is tarnished, says press legend Helen Thomas. And the only way to restore the luster is to get U.S. troops out of Iraq, from a war she calls illegal, press politicians to "do the right thing" and make sure journalists ask the tough questions.

She told a sold-out auditorium at the College of DuPage McAninch Arts Center in Glen Ellyn that after more than 50 years in the White House press corps, she doesn't regret a single question asked.
