Grainger profit up, 2007 forecast raised LAKE FOREST - W.W. Grainger Inc., a distributor of building maintenance and repair products, said Monday first-quarter profit rose 18 percent on sales to government and commercial customers. Profit climbed to $101.8 million, or $1.17 per share, from $86.2 million, or 93 cents, in the same quarter as last year.

Grainger raised the bottom of its full-year forecast range by 10 cents per share, projecting a range of $4.70 to $4.85. That sent shares up $2.06, or 2.6 percent, to $81.59 on the New York Stock Exchange. Revenue grew 9 percent to $1.55 billion, helped by sales of seasonal products due to cold weather.
