Hydrant flushing today: St. Charles residents in the area of 2460 W. Main St. may experience rust-colored water Tuesday as the fire department conducts hydrant tests. The tests are scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. Discolored water is safe to drink, officials said, but may discolor laundry. For a rust-removal kit, call (630) 377-4405.

Seat-belt checks start: Extra St. Charles police will be on the streets looking for seat-belt violators starting this week.
