Byline: Mike Spellman mspellman@@dailyherald.com When it comes to championship golf in Illinois, few have ruled the roost like Mike Small the past few years. Small, the University of Illinois men's head golf coach, defeated top-seeded Roy Biancalana, St. Andrews C.C. teaching professional, 1 up in the final match at Kemper Lakes Golf Course in Long Grove last week to win the 44th Illinois PGA Match Play Championship.

With the victory, Small has now won three of the four Illinois PGA major championships. He has won five of the past six Illinois PGA section championships and three of the past four Illinois Open Championships.
