Byline: Rob Phillips I've written a lot lately about several environmentally friendly projects planned in the Elgin area. For instance: the new Gail Borden Library branch, Judson College's addition, the city's seventh fire station, and a completely green neighborhood expected on the city's far west side.

A new Elgin citizens' group has been started to discuss what can be done locally to combat global warming. These projects catch my eye because they are new and different in the area. But I suppose its healthy to mention when longtime businesses continue to make green choices. DSM Desotech has been in Elgin since about 1990.
