Byline: Ted Cox Daily Herald TV/Radio Columnist If the '70s with the original cast was the golden age of "Saturday Night Live," the '90s was the gilded age: in some ways even more glittering and glitzy, and sometimes even more consistently funny, if not quite as brilliant or groundbreaking.
NBC celebrates that era with a new prime-time overview special, "Saturday Night Live in the '90s: Pop Culture Nation," airing at 8 p.m. Sunday on WMAQ Channel 5. If it's still a few years premature to indulge in full-fledged '90s nostalgia, it's nevertheless a welcome trip back to the "SNL" glory days.
