Byline: Melissa Jenco mjenco@@dailyherald.com Five area school districts will share a grant of nearly $1 million to improve their history programs, officials announced Monday in Naperville. The U.S. Department of Education presented its $971,034 Teaching American History grant to the districts and several history experts to give teachers access to resources that have been previously unavailable to them.
"Through this grant program we're recognizing the importance of U.S. history ... and we're developing informed citizens," said Donna Sack, director of visitor services at Naper Settlement in Naperville.
