Byline: Ames Boykin Des Plaines could be going green. Sixth Ward Alderman Mark Walsten has been pushing the city to pursue more environmental initiatives in the month he has held office. He is chairing a new environmental committee - dubbed the Deep Green Committee. The group will look at a potential program to dole out those more energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs to residents.
Though public works is adding a few hybrid vehicles this year, Walsten also wants to see more hybrid city vehicles on the road.
