Byline: Leslie Hague lhague@@dailyherald.com Another year, another new position. Tony Valente, who started as a Kaneland High School assistant principal last year, was promoted to principal Thursday. "Tony will bring a wealth of experience as well as some really great ideas," said Jeff Schuler, assistant superintendent for human resources.

Valente was picked out of a field of 36 applicants to replace Mike Davis, who resigned after two years at the post to take a principal position in downstate Pekin earlier this month. The school board approved his contract Thursday. He will make $97,000 a year, plus benefits.
