Julia Yates was a 20-year-old nursing school student who wanted to see a dentist. Robert Yates was the 23-year-old student at Loyola University's School of Dentistry scheduled to see her that fateful day in 1963.

Mrs. Yates later found out the appointment had been "fixed" by his friend. "His friend had noticed me, and he thought I'd be a good match for Bob," said Mrs. Yates, 66, a nurse at Sherman Hospital. She eventually became his regular patient and even sat for him as a patient during an important practical exam. They dated for two years, their love blossomed and eventually they married in...
