Interviewing would have been pointless In the June 23 "Opinion," the editors take issue with the four Schaumburg Township Library trustees - I being one - who voted to appoint Ruth Jonen to the vacated position on the board rather than going through an interview process to select a replacement.

Is it your opinion that process is more important than results? Since it is our duty as library trustees to appoint the best candidate for the open trustee position, why would we conduct interviews when one of our finest board members with unique qualifications and a proven record of accomplishments was willing to be appointed? During her 22 years as trustee, which ended at the last board meeting, Ruth served countless times as chairman of the personnel committee. As...
