Funeral services for Sara "Sarita" Ruiz, 64, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. (Route 31), Elgin. Burial will follow in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Born Oct. 12, 1944, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Carmelo and Luisa Rosa Villanueva, she passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008. Mrs. Ruiz had worked at U.S. Can for 25 years prior to her retirement.
