Robert B. Shannon of Carpentersville Burial for Robert B. Shannon will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill. Born May 1, 1931, in Carpentersville, to Hugh Shannon and Elsie (Buethe) Kupitz, he died Friday, March 21, 2008, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.

He grew up and played along the banks of the Fox River. After graduating from Dundee High School in 1949, he married Barbara E. Walters in 1951. He was a Marine Corps corporal Korean War veteran, attaining the National Defense Service, Korean Service with two stars. and United Nations Service medals.
