Sep. 3--The nose of American Airlines Flight 1048 from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport scraped along a runway at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport on Tuesday after the plane's front landing gear would not deploy.

None of the 128 passengers or five crew members aboard were injured, and the plane did not catch fire, an airline official said.
