KFC's Move to Roast Chicken Good News for Major Suppliers in Oklahoma. (Originated from The Tulsa World, Okla.)

Sep. 23--Officials at KFC Corp., parent company for Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants, expect their new roasted chicken to carry KFC into the next century.

And the expected jump in chicken sales is good economic news for the Oklahoma farmers and food processing workers who are major KFC suppliers. Simmons Industries Inc. and Tyson Foods Inc. have extensive Oklahoma operations, and each is supplying about half of KFC's chicken in this region.

This week in Tulsa and around the nation, KFC introduced its Colonel's Rotisserie Gold oven roasted chicken. A barbecue chicken sandwich, chicken taquitos and six new side dishes also were added to the menu.

The roasted chicken was first introduced in East Coast restaurants in July.
