SAN JOSE, Calif.--Nov. 16--CONGRESSMAN NORM MINETA HIT THE NAIL on the head Monday when he announced his support for the North American Free Trade Agreement.

"With or without NAFTA, the job dislocation that many people are experiencing today will continue," he said. "Solid jobs with long-term stability that we must create to employ those workers are dependent, more than anything else, on our ability to expand our markets and to be able to access those overseas markets with U.S. products.

"And my fear is that to defeat NAFTA would cripple our ability to create those jobs. And so, most importantly, we are going to have to look to the future and not how we have competed in the past."
