JACKSON, Miss.--Dec. 17--Barring an 11th-hour change of heart by the state Gaming Commission, Trump Ocean Club Casino will never become reality. The commission voted 2-0 to deny approval of both the Donald Trump and Lady Luck casino sites in the Gulfport harbor. Trump wanted to expand Marine Life Oceanarium and float a casino nearby; Lady Luck wanted to build at MISCO Marine, a shipyard.
Both casinos were invited to seek site approval again, but Trump's option to lease Marine Life expires Jan. 11, well before the Gaming Commission's next public meeting is scheduled.
The commission vote Thursday effectively killed the project, said Trump vice president Robert Pickus.
Lady Luck, which faces no such tight deadlines, likely will reapply later....
