GARY, Ind.--Jan. 6--A ratification vote on a tentative labor agreement between the United Steelworkers union and USX Corp.'s U.S. Steel Group is being held up due to open negotiations at USX subsidiaries, a union official said Wednesday.

"Until we get an agreement with all the U.S. Steel properties, we're not going to have an agreement," said Jack Parton, USWA District 31 director.

U.S. Steel spokesman Thomas Ferrall said, "We're not going to comment on anything involved in the ratification process."

Union and company negotiators reached tentative agreement on a six-year basic steel contract in Pittsburgh on Nov. 17.
