SAN JOSE, Calif.--Apr. 20--All Western states have suffered declines in electronics jobs during this recession, but a new analysis of job data shows that California is bleeding electronics jobs at a rate 10 times higher than nine of its neighbors.

The job losses in computers, electronic equipment and instruments have occurred against a backdrop of stunning gains in revenues and profits for Silicon Valley electronics firms. The statistics, some economists believe, suggest a future in which productivity increases limit job creation in electronics. And the manufacturing jobs that are created will go to other states or abroad.
