Seattle Radio Station Owner KIRO to Purchase KING-AM. (Originated from The Tacoma News Tribune, Wash.)

May 13--KIRO-AM, the Puget Sound's most-listened-to news/talk station, has beaten low-rated KING-AM - now it's joining it. KIRO, Inc., the company that owns KIRO-AM (710) and its talk sibling at 100.7 on the FM dial, Thursday announced its intent to purchase KING-AM (1090). The price was not disclosed.

KING-AM is being sold by Priscilla Bullitt Collins and Harriet Stimson Bullitt, who in March said it would give classical music station KING-FM to the Seattle arts community. In 1992, the Bullitts sold KING-TV to the Providence Journal Co.

KIRO also announced Thursday that it will sell advertising for KING-FM, starting sometime in July. Beethoven, Inc., which represents the arts groups, will own KING-FM - and get most of the advertising proceeds, and handle...
