West Publishing Law Books Threatened by Wisconsin Proposal. (Originated from Saint Paul Pioneer Press, Minn.)

Oct. 14--Journalists from the East and West coasts have been calling Robert Hagness a lot lately, eager to cast the small-town Wisconsin lawyer as a jurisprudential David bravely taking on a hated Goliath, a role conveniently filled in their scenarios by Eagan-based West Publishing Co.

A bemused Hagness says he does his best to foil the plot, however. "There are people around who just don't like West Publishing, but I'm not one of them and haven't allowed them to make me a West basher," said Hagness, who lives and practices in Mondovi, Wis.
