Investigators Focus on Plane Rudder from USAir Flight 427 Crash.(Originated from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Apr. 10--Seven months after the crash of USAir Flight 427 in Hopewell, National Transportation Safety Board investigators are continuing to turn over stones in their dogged search for a cause.
So far, they don't have an explanation, according to a source close to the investigation.
What's known for certain is that the aircraft's rudder, the large moveable piece at the back of the tail, moved far to the left on approach to Pittsburgh International Airport and sent the plane into a steep bank and a nose-first plunge to the earth. All 132 on board were killed.
While NTSB investigators don't know what made the rudder move, they hope a new experiment will provide some valuable information that could help unravel the reason.
