Fourth Baby Bell in Talks to Join Cable Television Venture.(Originated from Contra Costa Times, Walnut Creek, Calif.)

Sept. 27--Pacific Telesis Group may get a new ally in its television joint venture with two other Baby Bells: its sibling, US West Inc. If US West, with nearly $11 billion in revenue, joins the television operation, that could greatly increase the entertainment punch of Tele-TV,

which is a company owned by Pacific Telesis, Bell Atlantic and Nynex. The increased resources could enable the phone companies to deliver better programs to viewers in markets such as California.

"Tele-TV wants to develop the best programming for its viewers and the widest distribution," said Monie Begley, a Tele-TV senior vice president. "If an alliance works with another phone company, so much the better."
