Philadelphia Consulting Firm Receives Mixed Messages in Work Survey.(Originated from The Philadelphia Inquirer)

Oct. 26--American workers like their jobs but wouldn't mind being paid better. They are proud of the companies they work for, but less than thrilled with their bosses, job training, and opportunities for advancement.
That's the mixed message from more than 300,000 employees at about 250 companies polled in Hay Group's 1995 Employee Attitude Survey.
Hay, a Philadelphia management consulting firm, asked every worker in the nationwide survey to rate his or her company as "good," "neutral" or "poor" on each of 18 measures.
The answers revealed high levels of pride and job satisfaction, with three-quarters of the workers checking off "good" on these questions.
