Oct. 17--Kern County's farmers already are being wooed by local Wells Fargo Bank officials promoting their affiliation with the Trade Bank, a new international business lender that opened its doors today.
Local farms produce most of the $239 million-plus in export sales that comes out of the Bakersfield area each year, bank researchers have figured out. And the bankers want a bigger bite of the export pie.
The Trade Bank, jointly owned by Wells Fargo and British-based banking organization HSBC Group, offers local exporters a direct link to HSBC's more than 3,000 branches in foreign cities around the world.
