Utah Telephone Regulators Call US West on the Carpet.(Originated from The Salt Lake Tribune)

Dec. 13--The phone company gets another hearing Thursday in its quarrel with state regulators over its delays in furnishing phone lines to Utahns who want them.

Public Service commissioners called the hearing to learn whether US West Communications Co. has done enough for those whose service remains on hold. Commissioners also may use the hearing to fine the company for this year's poor service record and set improvement targets for next year. They scheduled a hearing for 9 a.m., in Room 426, 160 E. 300 South, Salt Lake City.

The PSC plans to focus on three broad areas of concern, but all the questions boil down to a single goal: reducing the likelihood that hundreds of Utahns from Logan to St. George will wait weeks -- and even months -- for new phone...
