Reuse of California Air Force Base as Cargo Airport under Review.(Originated from The Press-Enterprise, Riverside, Calif.)

MARCH AIR FORCE BASE, Calif.--Jan. 18--It was copters vs. cargo Wednesday as March Air Force Base reuse officials decided to take a hard look at what it would take to convert the soon-to-be scaled back base into an all-cargo airport.
In addition to hearing an aviation analyst say that the cargo airport would benefit the area economically, the March Joint Powers Commission also heard a glimmer of local resistance to the proposal to relocate Marine helicopters from closing bases in Orange County to March.
Margaret Strachan of Nuevo told the panel that she believes the decision by the Marines to move the helicopters to the Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego should not be changed.
