AT&T to Sell Richmond, Va., Area Factory; 1,950 Jobs at Stake.(Originated from Richmond Times-Dispatch, Va.)

Jan. 4--AT&T Corp. plans to sell its circuit board factory in eastern Henrico County this year and to ask the new owner to save most of the plant's nearly 2,000 jobs.
The New Jersey-based communications giant did not identify potential buyers or a price for the plant, which is part of a global interconnection products business that the company has decided to leave.
"We plan to initiate discussions with potential buyers in the next few weeks, " said Curtis J. Crawford, president of AT&T Microelectronics, which owns the business. "We hope to find a company that is committed to keeping the Richmond Works and its work force substantially intact."
