California Home Inspectors Protect Real Estate Agents, Home Buyers.(Originated from The Bakersfield Californian)

Feb. 23--The house looked great from the outside. Nice yard. Fresh paint. Attractive features. But home inspector Fermin Galvan found flaws that weren't so readily apparent.

High up in the garage were electrical connections and wiring that weren't protected in a box; a small part of one beam on the patio roof was beginning to rot, and a rear door did not have weather stripping.

Those are the details that Galvan noted in his on-the-spot computer generated report on his home inspection Thursday of a 57-year-old house near 21st and Pine streets in central Bakersfield.

"There is always something wrong," real estate agent John W. Willingham said. That's one of the reasons he's been using home inspectors for the past 10 years in the sales of his homes....
