Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. Buys Stake in New Jersey Computer Firm.(Originated from The Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville)

Mar. 13--Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. has bought a potential 9 percent stake in a New Jersey computer company that produces point-of-sale systems for retailers, the computer company said yesterday.
AW Computer Systems Inc. of Mount Laurel, N.J., said Jacksonville-based Winn-Dixie bought 250,000 newly issued shares of AW, giving it 5.3 percent of the company's stock.
Winn-Dixie also has warrants to buy another 260,000 shares, which eventually could give Winn-Dixie a 9 percent stake in AW if the warrants are exercised.
AW's stock closed yesterday at 2 3/8, up 1/8 on the day.
AW has developed a computer vision technology product called CPA that is designed to improve the performance of checkout line scanners in grocery stores.
