Mar. 16--General Motors Corp., practically shut down by a fast-spreading 11-day strike at a pair of brake plants in Dayton, is facing at least five other walkouts at assembly and parts plants across the country.

With no end in sight, the Dayton strike by late yesterday had shut down 24 of GM's 29 assembly plants and dozens of its parts facilities. The Dayton plant supplies brakes to 90 percent of GM's assembly plants.
