Carl's Furniture Will Close After 63 Years in Long Beach, Calif.(Originated from Press-Telegram, Long Beach, Calif.)

LONG BEACH, Calif.--Mar. 20--With members of the founding family now in their 70s and 80s and ready to retire, the city's oldest and largest furniture store is also retiring.
Carl's Furniture, known for its traditional furnishings, is closing its 40,000-square-foot Long Beach store after 63 years in the same location at 1250 E. Pacific Coast Highway.
A smaller store in Laguna Hills will remain open.
"It was just time," said Ray Carl, the 71-year-old president of Carl's Furniture. "We just wanted to work less, and the younger generation has gone in other directions."
After surviving the Great Depression, the 1933 earthquake and the 1992 riots, the store will be closed in about three-and-a-half months.
