Florida's Opinicus Corp. Tries to Interest Military in Its Simulator.(Originated from St. Petersburg Times, Fla.)

CLEARWATER, Fla.--Mar. 28--Just off U.S. 19, Navy pilot Capt. Tom Freeland pulled his car past a strip shopping center, entered a fourth-floor office suite and sat down. Then, he flew a jet plane at Mach 1.5 and landed a helicopter on a bridge.

Not your typical Wednesday morning along Clearwater's busy commuting corridor.

Freeland was in town to try out a small, flexibly designed simulator in the offices of Opinicus Corp., a young engineering company. The prototype simulator can not only mimic the flight of a wide range of aircraft but also can be configured within minutes to simulate a moving military tank or other ground vehicle.
