Labor Boycotts Crestar Corp. Over Dispute with Washington Gas Light Co.(Originated from Richmond Times-Dispatch, Va.)

Apr. 10--A labor boycott of Crestar Financial Corp. picked up momentum yesterday as a coalition of unions threatened to yank millions of dollars in deposits unless the company helps settle a labor dispute between Washington Gas and its workers.

The unions are rallying behind the International Union of Gas Workers in a yearlong battle with Washington Gas Light Co. over a new labor agreement for more than 1,000 workers in Northern Virginia and other parts of the Washington area.

The company locked out workers for 109 days last year before allowing them to return under the terms of a contract they refuse to accept.
