FORT WAYNE, Ind.--Apr. 24--Widespread winter storms and early sping wind and hail storms held Lincoln National Corp.'s first-quarter income from operations to $95.2 million, or 91 cents per share on revenues of $1.6 billion.
That compared with $106.5 million or $1.03 per share on revenues of $1.5 billion for the first quarter of 1995.
The Fort Wayne-based insurance and financial services company reported first-quarter earnings of $140.0 million or $1.34 per share, compared with $134.8 million or $1.30 per share for the same period last year.
It was LNC's second-best first quarter, but Ian M. Rolland, chairman and chief executive officer, said earnings would have exceeded $1 per share with more normal weather-related losses.
