MGM Grand Plans Colossal Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J.(Originated from The Philadelphia Inquirer)

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.--May 17--The buzz about Atlantic City intensified this week with MGM Grand's disclosure that it plans to descend on the resort town with one of its patented colossal casino resorts.

The deep-pockets crowd believes it's a boomtown again.

In addition to MGM Grand and Steve Wynn's plans to build a $750 million megacasino near the city marina, no fewer than seven entrepreneurs or corporations are now considering entering the Atlantic City casino market.

"Hilton's been in town, Sun International, two or three others that escape me," Lou Toscano, chief of policy for Atlantic City Mayor James Whelan, said Thursday. "Let's just say, the mayor's been doing quite a lot of tours lately."
