Motorola Inc. and Siemens Introduce a New Company.(Originated from Richmond Times-Dispatch, Va.)

May 21--Motorola Inc. and Siemens AG introduced a new company yesterday that will begin building a $1.5 billion computer chip factory in eastern Henrico County before the end of the year.

The plant will employ as many as 1,500 people in manufacturing a new generation of high-capacity memory chips for personal computers and a variety of other consumer electronic equipment.

The joint venture, White Oak Semiconductor, is named for White Oak Swamp, which lies next to the 175-acre site selected by the companies after a search that included 20 properties in 16 states.
