Southwestern Bell Cutting Cost to Wire Texas ISDN Lines.(Originated from San Antonio Express-News)

May 23--Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. will cut by about one-half the installation charge for digital phone lines that enable high-speed computer and Internet operations, the company announced Wednesday.

The Texas Public Utility Commission approved a new tariff for the SBC Communications Inc. telephone subsidiary's Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) offerings in Texas, effective immediately.

The new tariff allows the following changes:

ISDN installation fees reduced from $485 to $250. Monthly rates for Southwestern Bell's basic ISDN service remain the same, $57.70. That fee would be reduced 50 percent under a 12-month service agreement and eliminated under a 24-month agreement, although other service connection fees apply....
