Small Alaska Airline Agrees to FAA Fine, Restrictions.(Originated from Anchorage Daily News)

May 30--In a settlement with the Federal Aviation Administration, an Anchorage airline has agreed to a $50,000 fine and restrictions that its owner focus on company management rather than flying.

F.S. Air Service Inc. was the target of an FAA investigation last year involving a trip the charter service made to Texas in November to pick up equipment for an oil-industry client, according to FAA documents.

Owner and president Floyd Saltz Jr. maintained that the flight was not a commercial trip and therefore federal regulations for commercial flights did not apply. In addition to carrying equipment for a client, Saltz said Wednesday, the flight included picking up equipment for a friend.
