COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Jun. 19--One of the nation's fastest-growing credit card companies is negotiating for space to house what could be a 1,000-employee customer service and collections center in Colorado Springs.
Advanta Corp., the nation's ninth-largest issuer of MasterCard and Visa cards, is negotiating to lease Digital Equipment Corp.'s former manufacturing plant at 301 S. Rockrimmon Blvd., said Phyllis Hoffman, a spokeswoman at the company's Philadelphia area headquarters. The center would initially employ 150 but the company plans to expand it to 1,000 employees within four years, she said.
