FORT WAYNE, Ind.--Jul. 24--Strong performance by its property-casualty business contributed to a 20 percent second-quarter gain in income from operations for Lincoln National Corp.

The Fort Wayne-based insurance and financial services company reported second-quarter income from operations of $94.6 million, or $0.90 per share, compared with $78.5 million, or $0.75 per share, for the same period last year.

Lincoln's second-quarter earnings fell 5 percent to $111.4 million or $1.07 per share, compared with $117.9 million, or $1.13 per share, for the second quarter of 1995. Second-quarter revenues were unchanged at $1.6 billion.
