Boeing Breaks Ground on California Sea Launch Rocket-Building Facility.(Originated from Press-Telegram, Long Beach, Calif.)

LONG BEACH, Calif.--Aug. 9--From listening to the speeches at the ground-breaking ceremony Thursday for the Sea Launch rocket-building facility, you'd conclude that the Boeing Co. loves Long Beach, Long Beach loves the Boeing Co., and the future is rosy.
The ceremony was conducted on the former Navy Mole, a hook-shaped breakwater that protects the West Basin of the Long Beach Harbor. That is where Sea Launch, an international consortium headed by Boeing, will construct two new buildings, refurbish others and dock two giant ships all part of a unique seagoing rocket-launching venture.
Boeing company executives were effusive in their praise of Long Beach officials and the help they received in putting together the Sea Launch project.
