Aug. 2--As hotels nationwide jockey to find new niches, the Ramada City Center on Veteran's Parkway is poised for $700,000 in renovations and conversion into a Holiday Inn.
Work will begin after Labor Day to remodel the front entrance, lobby and restaurant and replace the carpets, bedspreads, drapes and bathroom tiles in the hotel rooms.
Jim Davis, the chief financial officer of Hotel Associates Hospitality Group, bought the downtown hotel with two investors from Parsippany, N.J. Their company owns two hotels in the Northeast.
Meanwhile, down the street from the Ramada, investors recently spent $4 million to remodel the Martinique Inn and convert it into a Howard Johnson. The Holiday Inn on Victory Drive became a Day's Inn last year.
